HESED Africa’s Livelihoods Program is dedicated to empowering women and youth – particularly survivors of gender-based violence – by helping them break the cycle of poverty and abuse. Through this initiative, participants are given the tools to build secure futures and contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of their communities.
At the heart of the program is a strong focus on skills development. Women and youth are equipped with practical, income-generating skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, mat making, crocheting, beadwork, and henna art. To complement these vocational skills, financial literacy workshops are provided to ensure participants can confidently and effectively manage their finances.
Upon completion of the program, HESED Africa continues to support participants on their journey toward economic independence. This includes the provision of business starter kits, connections to microloan providers, and access to local and international markets to help grow their businesses. A dedicated online shop also showcases and supports their products.
Recognizing that young people are the key to a thriving future, HESED Africa places special emphasis on youth empowerment. We offer business development training to nurture entrepreneurial skills and encourage the launch of sustainable ventures. In addition, leadership development opportunities are provided to foster the next generation of community leaders.
To ensure holistic well-being, our approach also integrates mental health support. We offer counseling services designed to help participants manage emotional challenges and build resilience.
By combining practical skills training, entrepreneurial support, and mental health care, HESED Africa’s Livelihoods Program creates a nurturing environment that enables women and youth to thrive – and, in turn, uplift their communities.
