Medical Outreaches
We have conducted intervention for Medical assistance, and provision of food and non food items to internally displaced persons in Naivasha District in 2009 and Nyandarua District in 2010. The project reached flood victims of Budalangi in 2009. In the year 2011 the project under the response to drought crisis and refugee influx reached refugees and host communities in Dadaab and Fafi Districts.
In the year 2012-2013, we are conducting at least two integrated medical outreaches within Fafi District, with referral to nearby health facilities for follow ups. The outreaches intensified on immunization coverage for children under five years with the aim of reducing childhood diseases.
Empowerment & Development Program
Young Women/Mothers Project: Started as a self help group, its mission was to bring together mothers to be able to improve savings amongst themselves to promote self financial sustainability. The group has a membership of 20 young mothers aged between 18 to 26 years.
The members have been able to intensively go through a simple book keeping and business management training. With this training, the young mothers have been able to venture into various businesses with a large group opting for self employment.
We have initiated a tailoring and craft project in Nairobi to give skill and self employment opportunity for the young women and girls.
The mothers have also been taken through sexual reproductive health talks, nutrition talks, leadership and entrepreneurship skills. Through such fora, the women get an opportunity to interact with experts and acquire knowledge that they apply in their day to day activities. Information acquired is also used to educate others as they relate in the community.
