Hesed Africa Volunteer Program

Various opportunities are available in all of Hesed Africa’s programs. Local and International volunteers work with our staff to identify tasks and projects that utilize the skills and talents of volunteers, while contributing to the overall objectives of the organization. Volunteers work under the direction of local staff members.

How To Participate

There are many ways to contribute towards achievement of Hesed Africa Programs' Goals.

Whom do we target?

We mainly work  with the most vulnerable members of the society by trying to equip them with vital skills and knowledge to tackle the existing opportunities in the community for self - reliance. Most of the target populations in districts of focus, to be particular, Western Kenya rely on subsistence farming as a source of livelihoods and the type of farming they depend itself on is largely rain fed thus dependent on climatic conditions thus their livelihoods depends on climate too. With the recent climatic changes, there has been environmental degradation and poor harvests.

Hesed Outpatient Clinic

an outpatient clinic located in western part of Kenya in Nyanza province, Siaya County, Ugenya district, Sihay division, North East Ugenya location, Ramunde sub-location, Nyangungu village. The main objective of our health program is to reduce mortality and morbidity rates among target population.

Health and Economic Programs

New disease infections due to lack of clean portable water as well as poor sanitation conditions have also emerged in our areas of focus. Like the rest of the country, HIV/AIDS has seen so many children orphaned and family incomes reduced or terminated. Most families in the region lack access to proper health care due to costs involved.Venture into business activities is hindered by inadequate access to credit facilities to enable business start ups and growth as well as poor physical and market infrastructure.

Health Promotions

Hesed Africa with partners provide hygiene materials such as soap, sanitary pads to women, mosquito nets, shelter kits, sleeping mats and water treatment tablets to vulnerable households. We provide food supplementation coupled with nutrition monitoring for under fives, expectant and lactating mothers.Empowerment & Development Program - The aim is to empower the vulnerable persons in the community mainly: the women, under 5s, youth & OVC (orphans & vulnerable Children).
