In Kenya, many communities struggle to access the healthcare they need. Our overall goal at HESED Africa with the support of partners is to promote rights to comprehensive health care of urban refugees and vulnerable host communities. Additionally, we support the health facilities by providing clinical care services for survivors of Gender Based Violence.
By addressing malnutrition and promoting healthy lifestyles, we’re working towards a healthier future for generations to come.
This is how we make a difference:
By addressing health holistically, from prevention to treatment, HESED Africa is building a healthier Kenya.
- Installation of infrastructure: To improve maternal, newborn, child health, (RMNCH) outcomes and address gender-based violence (GBV), we install sexual and reproductive health centers and youth friendly centers at the facilities.
- Family Planning Services: We empower individuals and families to make informed choices about their reproductive health through access to family planning services and education.
- Strengthening the Healthcare Workforce: We build the capacity of healthcare providers, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to provide quality care at the facilities.
- Empowering Communities: We train and support community health promoters to improve health outcomes and well-being in the grassroots.
- Essential Supplies & Equipment: We support facilities by providing essential drug supplies, lab reagents, and equipment to ensure they are properly equipped.
- Integrated Medical Outreaches: We organize integrated medical outreaches, bringing essential services directly to remote communities.
- Addressing Neglected Needs: Through in-reaches, we target areas where health indicators are lagging, ensuring everyone has access to the care they deserve.
- Infection Prevention & Control: We prioritize infection prevention and control measures, creating a safe and healthy environment for all.
- School Health Programs: In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, we run school health programs that promote overall well-being and address the specific needs of students.
- Sexual & Reproductive Health Promotion: We raise awareness and offer guidance and counseling on sexual and reproductive health topics, empowering individuals to make informed choices.
- Promoting Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH): We conduct awareness campaigns and training sessions on handwashing, proper sanitation, and menstrual hygiene. We also provide aqua tabs, jerricans, soap, handwashing tanks, and sanitary pads and undergarments to support these efforts.
- Providing Essential Nutrition: Delivering vital supplements to address malnutrition and promote long-term health.
- Community Health Partnerships: Collaborating with local health workers to conduct assessments and provide targeted support.
- Comprehensive Care: Referring malnourished children to weekly clinics and delivering food baskets to families in need.
- Empowering Communities: Implementing the IMAM program to offer therapeutic and supplementary foods while providing nutrition education for sustainable health practices.
